A house for a family

Image
YWAM Recife were given a small piece of land, with a small, wooden, one room house on it. As the team prayed about what to do with this land they felt they should give it to Leo's mum. She has 11 children, 5 are currently living with her, one, Leo, is living in Hope House, and I don't know about the others. So we are in the process of making it livable with the eventual plan of making a nice little home for them. The first stage is to make a concrete floor in the current house, a septic tank and a toilet. Next we will start making brick walls around the wooden structure to form the new house. I expect this work will form my weekend work duties for the next few months. ( all students have 8 hours of work duties every weekend )

a student life

I thought being a student would be easy!!  Don't students just chill out all day, and then go out in the evening to have fun???  Not here!!! We have 20 hours lectures a week,  plus 1 book report a month, a final project,  and a weekly study journal,  we have 2 hours work duties 4 days a week  plus 8 hours on the weekend!!  2 weeks in and I need a holiday!!

we didn't get a chance to take a picture but this is the type of lizard Laura saw this week end in our back garden. It was about 80 cm long and it's called a Tegu.

Jonathan

For the last few weeks our street work has been a little on the quite side. All the parks were boarded up for Carnival and the kids were displaced ( more than usual). But this week we met a few of the kids we have been in contact with for a while. Jonathan and Kai, (about 13 but look about 10) normally hang around together, in a plaza. Kai has one leg as just before we met him he had been run over by a bus. He moves around very quickly with his crutches ( and without) and his crutches are used as a form of weapon when someone steals his glue or irritates him. This week Kai was not around though. Jonathan was and seemed very withdrawn and when i held out my hand to him he kissed it put it against his face and then curled up his body into mine. Obviously these boys are sometimes over sexualised and so after giving him a quick squeeze as my heart was braking and my eyes filling i passed him over to our male team leader. Jonathan stood holding our team leader, eyes screwed shut, face in p

The blog's gone all quiet

We are just finishing our news letter and don't have enough stories for both!!
