Triage

Image
So Laura and I completed our second triage, which is a 12 day process where we take boys from the streets to a house far away in the jungle to see whether they are willing and able to live in Hope House. We took 6 boys and over the course of the triage 4 decided to leave, which is sad but we still have good relationship with them and they all would like to participate in the next triage. a rare moment of peace!

Monday we start the Triage

"WHAT EXACTLY IS A TRIAGE?"  We visit the kids every week at night on the street where we build relationships with them and encourage them to get out of the street life. At least once a year we do a triage, where we take a few boys who want to move off of the streets and into our shelter "Hope House". The triage takes place at a house deep in the jungle where the kids live with us for 12 days. There they learn to live in a house, many of them have never used a toilet or tooth brush. In the house they also have to start to obey to the rules. These children have never been educated, if they are angry, they smash what ever they can find (chairs, tables, other kids), which can be really wild. Only those who actually manage to follow the rules in those 12 days, can move into the "Hope House". We certainly hope that all of them will succeed, but experience shows that rarely more than 50% stay until the end. At the house we wont have internet so communic...

"Joe"

We have seen lots of Joe recently which is great as we are hoping that he will still want to come of the streets when we have our next Triage in Sept/Oct. If all goes according to plan we should be involved in this. Keep praying for him, his safety and that he still will want to come of the streets when we have everything prepared to give him this opportunity.
