Had a lovely time with family and friends in Bolton (and Liverpool!) and a relaxing and restful time praying and refocusing in Scotland. The YWAM base at Seamill, West Kilbride It was great to be in the Seamill base again where Tony and I met seven years ago. We prayed and laughed with wise friends and felt encouraged. Thanks guys! *(SIDE HUG) Tomorrow we are off to Turkey for rest and relaxation. Yum Yum.

a night in Manchester

Tonight I saw 2 amazing bands, missed the last train, and met a cool guy who helped me get home!!

quick overview

Image
one of the things I know is that people (me included) forget stuff and so I thought I'd just do a quick update about what we have done and are doing! We have been in Bogota, Colombia for 8 months, working with an organisation that puts street children and children at risk into families. We didn't take in any children or adopt any (even though we loved them very much!) we were just there for this time to help and serve an existing family and learn how they did it. We had a great time learnt so much. We are now in the middle of applying for visas for Brazil. We have been accepted with YWAM. We will go to Recife, Brazil and learn for 3 months more specific topics relating to street children (for the list of topics see our "street Kids" page). Then we will have 3 month practical placement before starting to visit other ministries with a view to settle long term. As we are volunteering under YWAM, we will not be getting paid and will have to provide all fees and flights

visa stuff

We are currently in the process of applying for a Brazilian voluntary work visa. We have to wait to get the police report back to reassure the authorities that we are not criminals, then with loads of other supporting documents from old employers references to YWAM Recife legal documents, we apply for the visa, which could take a bit of waiting!!! If you're the praying sort, please pray that all the papers get here quickly and that once we have applied for the visa that process goes fast too!! Thanx.

The Bridge Church Bolton

This sunday we spoke about what we have been doing and hope to be doing at Laura's home church, both services in the morning and the youth in the evening. We also had pizza with the missions team which was very good!! Thanx for having us!! We got the youth going through the bins to experience what it would fee like to be a recycler in Bogotá!!
