Wednesday

Image
Wednesday was a very busy and interesting day, so I thought I would just share a little of it with you! This week we have been working at taking the boys to visit their family. We really believe that the boys should keep links with their family and we hope that in each situation when the boy is ready they will be able to live back with someone they are related to. looking for family We left early Wednesday morning to avoid the traffic into the city, to find Bens brother. Ben is one of 9 children, but he is closet to his 15 year old brother Gus who still lives on the street and his 18 year old brother Carl who is in prison. It was Gus we were looking for but after asking several of the people Ben used to live on the streets with, if they had seen him, we were no closer. Several said he had gone to live in a government home, others said they had seen him in a plaza across the city and one said that he had been killed. This isn't the first time someone told us the person we were

Boys Sponsorship Project

Image
At the moment one of the projects I am working on is trying to get regular sponsorship for the wonderful  boys of the Hope House. In the past people have given donations to keep the house running, but in recent years these have dwindled. Our current lack of regular support for the house means a significant financial drain on the YWAM base in general which is not feasible on a long time basis. We are hoping to generate income through sponsorship for the house to provide for the boys. Watch this space for more details of how its going and for more information if you think this is something you or your small group would be interested in doing.

We're still here!!

Sorry I haven't been up dating much, its been a busy time!! but things are going well!! all 3 boys who made it through the triage are still with us which is better than usual, they are preparing to go to school, hopefully in the new year, with lessons at home twice a day, most days. They are fitting in nicely and are accustomed to the rhythm of the house, even the chores. Laura and I both work in the house in the mornings. Tony 5;30 till 10, and Laura 10 till 2. Laura is getting involved in some of the admin of the house in the afternoons and I have restarted working with my apprentice preparing him for the day he will have to get a job in the outside word. We are really looking forward to our trip home which is coming up very soon!!!
