Monday we start the Triage

"WHAT EXACTLY IS A TRIAGE?"  We visit the kids every week at night on the street where we build relationships with them and encourage them to get out of the street life. At least once a year we do a triage, where we take a few boys who want to move off of the streets and into our shelter "Hope House". The triage takes place at a house deep in the jungle where the kids live with us for 12 days. There they learn to live in a house, many of them have never used a toilet or tooth brush. In the house they also have to start to obey to the rules. These children have never been educated, if they are angry, they smash what ever they can find (chairs, tables, other kids), which can be really wild. Only those who actually manage to follow the rules in those 12 days, can move into the "Hope House". We certainly hope that all of them will succeed, but experience shows that rarely more than 50% stay until the end. At the house we wont have internet so communic...

After a little moving around we have ended up in this flat on the base, which we will live in until we move again, which may be next month. we hope our next flat will be available untilc we build our own place. this is our living room  our tiny kitchen there are loads of hooks to hang stuff this is the control panel of our retro washing machine, which sounds like a rocket!! we actually have to leave the flat when we wash clothes as it is so loud!! the good news is the machine will stay in the flat when we move!! our bathroom, with just enough room for my knees to use the loo!! this is our new view  its the football stadium for the 2014 world cup!!

For part of our practical phase of the children at risk Course we spent 3 weeks in Belem in the Amazon Basin. We had a great time our aim was to bless the ministry there and learn how they do things. We worked on their street team, in the boys house and the girls house. We made some great friends and met some incredible kids. time of spiritual input at the girls house Tony is losing his climbing skills... but gaining his nail painting skills! The boys were a big hit with the varnish! We talked to the girls using psalm 139v14- and encouraged them to remember that they "are fearfully and wonderfully made" We wrote it on a mirror and got them to decorate around it.
