World Cup Brazil

Thought we'd share a few pictures about how life has been like having the World Cup on our doorstep.  I'm not going to rant about how FIFA and the Brazilian government are ridiculously corrupt and how I've seen first hand how they have thrown people out of their home and communities to make new roads .. which haven't even been finished. I'm not going to rant about how loads of tourists bring in sex tourists and how there is a rise in child prostitution.. because there is.. and you all know about it due to the BBC and even that terrible erroneous article in the Mirror (which featured one of our friends and co-workers looking like a pimp as the cover shot...when he is the one working with these girls every week and was the one helping the so called reporter..BIG FAIL Mirror). No I will stop my ranting!!  Everyone knows about that side.. and maybe soon we will share some of our experiences.. but for now we want to focus on the good stuff, there HAS been such an am...

Here are some photos of my recent birthday celebrations.. it was a very full day.. This screen shot kinda sums up how I was feeling!!  Teresa knows!  ate cake with good friends    ate some more cake.. ..then I met Naymar.. ... and a typical farmer! ..and dinner with some wonderful people.

Life after Hope House

Over the last 11 years of Hope House providing a loving home for many ex-street boys, there has always come a sad time when a boy turns 18 and must leave because they are no longer legally allowed to stay in the house. Many of them choose to stay here within the YWAM community, doing a DTS, helping out on the base and more recently being part of Project Jose. Those that have stayed are mentored and encouraged to continue to make good choices, they feel part of the community. However many of those that have left because of wanting to have more freedom have returned to the problems they were once free of. Two are in prison, one is an alcoholic, another has turned to theft and they are just those that we personally know. There are more stories that we are not aware of. Project Jose was created to encourage and support those boys who want to stay on the base and want to continue to make something of their lives. The boys make goals, are mentored and given employment. They learn how to hand...

It´s been an eventful month...

Well it has certainly been different! Our first month of being three has had its ups and downs, but we are still all well and (for the most) enjoying it! Here some of what she has been up to...    posing for photos.. smiling.. chillin with dad.. getting my medical insurance.. getting drunk on milk..  ....Getting drunk on RedBull  (just kidding please dont send the Social Sevices over!) more smiling.. not enough of this.. celebrating Easter... chillin with my favourite Uncle.. ..Tio Edgar Studying for my degree lots of this.. recieving love from across the world! experiencing new flavours..  ( again.. just Kiddin!) some more laughing.. ...finding my feet ..and generally being cute!

The New Arrival!

We are happy to announce the arrival of Teresa Heather Lewry! Born on Wednesday 2nd April at 4.42am weighing 7lb2oz (3.3kg) and 48cm long.  Mum and Baby are well. The birth was a little complicated towards the end and Teresa needed to be incubated for a few hours to get over the shock!
